Construction update - Progress in 2025!
July 2025 Highest point & merging new hotel wing
We are proud to share that the highest point of construction has been reached. Our new hotel wing is now fully visible and gives Van der Valk Groningen-Hoogkerk a beautiful new look.
In the coming period, we will continue working hard on the finishing and furnishing. In addition, the new hotel wing will finally be connected to the rest of the hotel! With this expansion, we will soon offer even more space for our guests to enjoy comfort, hospitality and experience.
A special moment to remember. Thank you to everyone involved for their commitment and professionalism in making this milestone possible.
March 2025
In March, we expect a beautiful milestone: the installation of the first floor. From then on, we will literally build step by step into the height!
February 2025
In February, the focus is on the preparatory work for the high-rise. The floor is placed and the first contours of the ground floor become visible. The hotel is really starting to take shape!

Construction Updates - 2024
July 2024
Preparations, piling, facade demolition, and water drainage work.
August/September 2024
The piling and demolition work has been completed. Preparations for the foundation are currently underway.
September 30, 2024
The reinforcement of the foundation has been completed, and the footings have been installed. These footings provide extra strength to the foundation by evenly distributing the load from the overlying elements, such as walls and floors, across the ground.
October 7, 2024
The installation of crawl spaces has begun. During this phase, the sewer system, rainwater drainage, air ducts, and power cables are being installed. Everything is being prepared so that the floor can be laid.
October 11, 2024
The swimming pool has been installed. This pool, delivered pre-made, is constructed from plastic and features a bench and a small staircase. The luxury finishing will follow in a later stage of construction.
October 30, 2024
Today, the insulated hollow-core slabs were placed on the foundation. The next step is the installation of the edge formwork, after which the pouring of the cell seams and a 7 cm concrete structural compression layer will start next week. By the end of the week, the ground floor will be fully structurally ready.
